Training Notes

It’d be a really bad idea to try to walk across the state without any training, so here I am walking a lot to get ready for a big walk!

I’ve been using the iPhone app LoseIt to track my calories and exercise. Anytime I’ve tracked both I’ve found myself in better shape than if I just did one or the other. It takes a few minutes each day and it’s worth the time.

I also use the Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS watch to track my time, distance and the like. It’s a great little watch that includes a heart rate monitor also. You can use a program like SportTracks or websites like endomondo.com/ to map your runs and collect your data. I’ll be posting information from that daily during the Water Walk.

What sorts of things do you do to get in shape? What’s some of your favorite workout food?
