The Final Update

It has been a long and beautiful road. A journey through four years of my life and I’m excited to write a final chapter for you here.

In 2011 I decided I wanted to find a way to help those who were in need of clean water. To somehow step into their lives. I challenged myself to walk across Wisconsin and then to go and help drill a well. And I invited those who would join me (financially, on the walk for any length, through their support) and together we set off on the journey together.

Today I write to you what will probably be my final blog post for this project. To celebrate with you. To remember and to be thankful.

$25k was raised in total. Of that, the first $20k went to four new wells. I’ve written updates on the blog about those before (here and here)

The new update: The final $5k has been spent and 5 unusable wells in Guatemala have been rehabilitated. This has brought clean water to over 1000 homes alone.

That means, that with this $25k, OVER 5000 now have access to clean water that they didn’t have before.

I’m honestly overcome by emotion by that thought. I know this experience has altered my life for the better. I’m so excited to think that over 5000 other people might be able to say the same thing.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I could not have done this without everyone’s support.

I want to wrap things up with a few images and a wish.

The images: first a few I received about final 5 rehabilitated wells, then a few from the walk itself, and lastly some from my time in Guatemala on the drill.

The wish: may you find a passion inside of you for something greater than yourself, may you see it clearly and feel it deeply, and then may you let it propel you to serve the world, to care for others, and to change the world.
