The Final Update
It has been a long and beautiful road. A journey through four years of my life and I’m excited to write a final chapter for you here. In 2011 I decided I wanted to find a way to help those who were in need of clean water. To somehow step into their lives. I challenged
Update on Guatemala Well Drill
It’s World Water Day and I thought I’d celebrate it with an update on the well drill in Guatemala I went on a few months ago. I’ve been putting off editing the images partially because it’s hard for me to look at the images. It’s hard to explain. I felt so comfortable and “at home”
to build a well…
I have some very fun and exciting news to share! A well, built… The fourth of the four wells has been drilled! It is near the city of Olanchito, Honduras. Here’s a shot of the water source before the well went in and the location of the well in the country: The area is home
Happy World Water Day! Will You Join Me Again?
Today is World Water Day – a day set aside to focus on the basic human need of clean, safe drinking water. Today we can make decisions that will effect people around the globe. It’s never too late to join in the campaign to bring life to so many without access to clean drinking water.
Two More Wells!
It’s been a few months since the last update and I’ve got some good news to share! Two more wells have been drilled, one in Guatemala, the other in El Salvador. That’s 3 of the 4 wells we’ve raised money for together so far! And we’re actually only a couple of thousand away from another
3 Months On – 1 Well Built
It’s been 3 months since I jumped into Lake Michigan, ending the Walk for Clean Water. For those 235 miles walked, we raised over $21,000 for clean water wells around the world. I’ve received news that four wells will be built from the money raised! One has already been built in India (the other three
One Sweet Splash
After 232 mile, I made a leap into a very cold Lake Michigan. It was cold and felt so good. I want to write more in the next few weeks so this will be short. Lives have been changed. Mine, other’s I have talked to – but most importantly we changed the lives of hundreds,
details for the last day
Updated Wed Night: So I’m ~218 miles in and have about ~12 to go. Tomorrow I will start at 3pm from 124th and Forrest (basically by the railroad track bridge. Google Maps: http://goo.gl/maps/f4LG). It’s right next to Greenfield Park. We’ll head up to the Hank Aaron a few blocks north and take that to the
day 6
I write this from the hotel room that I get to stay in for TWO WHOLE NIGHTS! I’m so excited to have Sunday off. I’m sore, tired and ready for a break. My ailments are minor compared to what so many people probably go through to gather water on a daily basis – and the
days 4 and 5
The last two days have been challenging and fun. Day 4 brought marathon #2 in two days (in fact, day 4 ended up being 27+ miles) so today’s 24 miles seemed easy in comparison. The hard part has been that I ended the trails on day 4 and have been on the roads for the
day 3
75 miles done – that’s 1/3 of the 225 miles I’m planing on doing. And we’re at 32% of the $50k goal (so $16k). That’s about 3 communities who will be changed in amazing ways thanks to your support. We are talking HUNDREDS of people. I know it’s far short of the almost 1 billion
days 1 and 2
There is so much to say and I’m so late in getting to this blog post. Just trying to answer emails and keep up with comments on Twitter and Facebook (oh, and walking 25 miles) is taking up my days quickly. Thank you to all of you emailing and leaving comments though – they are
